Behaviour Support

Our specialist behaviour support practitioners are here to help you explore and understand your behaviours.

We understand that all behaviours serve a purpose. Behaviour can be an expression of resistance, boredom, protest, pain, fear, sadness, frustration, confusion or a sign of mental or physical illness.

Our experienced team work with you to create a plan to help you be a part of your community in a safe and positive way. They will suggest proactive ways you can be supported to have your needs met and minimise behaviours of concern including:

  • A plan that finds opportunities for you to make meaningful connections and participate in community activities.
  • Developing proactive strategies to keep you and the people around you safe and improve your quality of life.
  • Ongoing training and support for the people in your life. This helps them to follow your plan and make sure everything is working as it should.
  • Addressing restrictive practices. If restrictive practices are recommended as part of a behaviour support plan, our team will create a fade out plan that aims to reduce that restriction over time until it is no longer needed.

Your NDIS plan and behaviour support

If you need support to manage behaviours because of your disability, you may be funded for these services through your NDIS plan.

Behaviour support is usually funded under the ‘Improved Relationships’ category of your NDIS Capacity Building Supports budget. We can help you understand what’s possible.
